FAQ

1) What does your son Sam think full-time RV life?
So far so good. He loves to explore and enjoys the pool life when we can get it.

2) What kind of work do you do? We both work as freelancers in science and science education. Susanne also has a Beachbody fitness coaching business that she intends to grow while living on the road.

3) Can you both get your work done and roadschool Sam?
Yes. Our jobs are time flexible and there are two of us.

4) Can you all live in such a small space?
Yes, we are not locked in the RV all day and our backyard is 49 of the 50 states.

5) What about your car (toad)?
We are keeping it. We use it for day trips, getting to stores, and into cities.

6) Don’t you have to officially live in a state?
Yes.  We became residents of Texas and wrote a blog post about it.

7) What kind of RV do you have?
Clark is a Class C RV.  He is a gently used  2015 Coachmen Freelander 29KS. He is named after the Clark Fork River in Montana. We lived right next to it for a few months in 2006.

8) How long do you plan on living in an RV?
We don’t know. The best answer is we plan on living in it until we are not. It could be a year or less, we hope it will be a few years at least.

9) What about your stuff?
We sold or gave away most of our pre-rv stuff. We placed two boxes of pictures and other items at Susanne's parent's house. Other than those two boxes, the rest of the stuff we own travels with us in the RV.

10) What worries you the most about this plan?
For Trent and Susanne the biggest worry revolves the costs. There are ways to control the costs and we plan to use them. The biggest savings comes from not traveling too quickly thus saving gas and allowing you to get weekly or monthly discount rates at RV parks. The good news is there are other high-tech remote full-time RVers already living this lifestyle. It can be done.

For Sam the biggest worry is the lack of snow, we plan to stay in moderate weather by migrating with the seasons as to avoid heat and snow.

11) Where are you headed?
We are currently slowly headed west toward California from Texas. Next year we hope to stay in not-too-hot and not-too-cold weather for comfort and to save money by reducing our heating and cooling costs. The longest range goal right now is to be in the Pacific Northwest for the summer of 2017.

12) What gear do you suggest?
Funny you should ask- we wrote a blog post listing our favorite gear.

13) When did you start this full-time RV life?
We started June 1st, 2016.

14) This blog just recently started - how do you have a FAQ?
You are a clever cookie.
